Setting the Standard in Law Enforcement for Nearly 50 Years.

The American Academy for Professional Law Enforcement New York City, Inc. (AAPLE) was formed in 1974 by the merger of the Academy of Police Sciences, founded in New York in 1958, and the Law Enforcement Association on Professional Standards, Education and Ethical Practice, founded in St. Louis in 1970. AAPLE is composed of members from City, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies, private corporations, security firms, and numerous academic institutions of higher learning. The organization continues its efforts in fostering professionalism and provides a forum for discussing and publicizing law enforcement problems affecting society today. This is accomplished through monthly meetings, guest lectures, professional networking, professional opportunities, and developing public support for improvements in the criminal justice professions.

AAPLE has built its principal foundation on the commitment and generosity of its members who support our festivities throughout the year — including our Wine Tasting Event, Scholarship Dinner Dance, Annual Post Holiday Party, and Cigar Night, to name just a few. These events allow AAPLE to maintain its tradition of philanthropy and investment in the next generation of law enforcement professionals by giving back to local charities, and scholarships awarded to the children of our dedicated members.
